How do I program my (insert DMA Model) scanner?

The method of programming is confusing. Are there any shortcuts to make this task easier?

The manual is very hard to read/confusing/worthless. Are there any better ones?

The full title of this post should really be something like “How to update a Uniden BDC436 scanner using a Mac and run the Windows Sentinel software WITHOUT running Windows on your Mac.” Last year I bought a Uniden BCD436HP scanner figuring there’d be all. Software package published by Uniden, for their HomePatrol-1 & HomePatrol-2 or BCD436HP & BCD536HP scanners; freeware that allowing all users to download and try, before purchase of the scanners. Both version give the user the ability to Update Firmware, Update the Radio Reference Data Base (RRDB), build, create, edit and maintain Favorite List, Systems, Departments, analog & digital.

Welcome to the Programming Your Uniden Scanner article. At some point, we all end up scratching our heads, and wishing there were an easier wayto program our scanners, particularly when there is a new memory management method involved. Those that were involved with banked scanning foryears often find the new DMA scanners particularly difficult.

Most newer PCs have no serial ports, so you need to make the connection between the scanner and PC via an USB device.Please see our Connecting scanners via USB article for more information and tips on how to set this up properly.
